Greetings, I am Lex Luthor. For those of you who are not aware of my ‘alien’ power, then be warned for I hold the greatest weapon in the universe in my possession (or so they say): the Ring of the Green Lantern and with it I have already defeated my greatest adversary: Superman. Oh come on, you do know him, the man of steel, the last son of krypton, the so called man of tomorrow? It’s okay my boy…I can see why you don’t know him, for he has been quite banished for some time now. So be it also with his associates and colleagues, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and the rest of those other detestable costumed "heroes".
How did I come by this great power you ask? Funny you should say that, I was just about to tell you. Well it was really very simple you see, I didn’t go off into the tropics and find some magic stone or share knowledge with some alien race. I was driving by in the back of a limousine, and I passed a filthy alleyway. In there was the gentle humming of the ring of the Green Lantern, the promise of power. A green glowing light caught my attention. I forcibly made the driver stop the car, quickly ran out to inspect what I had sighted, and there it was... the ring! It was not alone however, there was a small blue man holding the ring up, offering it to me as a gift.
With my encounters with that red caped fool, I knew enough about super-heroes to last me a lifetime, and I knew exactly what this was. I tried to take the ring as fast as I possibly could, but my mind hesitated the action. I had once used a ring before to bring down Superman, and I was ultimately riddled with cancer. But I came back, I got better, lots better than before.
As I grabbed the ring, I could feel a certain urge of energy flowing through me, it was as though my old body had been electrocuted though it hadn’t. A burning sensation filled my stomach, my hands and forehead began to sweat moments after I had put on the ring. I should have thanked the dwarf-like alien that gave me this power, it's too bad I banished him just after I put on the ring…call it a lightning reflex…something very unprovoked…something that a mad hooligan like the Joker would probably do. The first moments I had the ring on my mind was slightly harder to control, I would probably even had injured the slightest being that made noise. For years I had even been haunted by dreams of defeating Superman, those days are finally true, I can be more powerful than he.
As time passed, I became more and more experienced in using my ring and within the next day came the banishment and fall of the power of Superman. Not by the hands of Brainac, Darkseid or Doomsday, but by me. Lex Luthor. All I had to do to kill him was create my own Kryptonite from the power of the ring. I am not sure how I could create the Kryptonite, possibly because I knew how it more or less worked or possibly because a small amount of the Kryptonite radiation still lurked in my body, thus allowing the ring know what substance to copy.
Nobody cared, everyone assumed he would win, he always did! They assumed he could once again beat me…but he didn't. In those days it was a common thing for metahumans to always miraculously return from death and always win. How often is it when you bury a hero and yet he returns? Well, that most certainly was not the case this time. Although, I must confess, after his defeat things got a little complicated... but interesting!
No you don’t quite understand, I did not kill my enemy, though I had wanted to before I discovered that I did not have to. It’s funny how sometimes one wants something which he cannot have and when he finally has it he no longer wants it. It is also strange how my mind functions with this ring on, I feel like the Lex Luthor that I was once was and I feel like a Lex Luthor that I am not familiar with. I merely fed enough Kryptonite into his body to render him as weak as a rat. As we speak my Lex-corp scientists are trying to figure out how his metabolism works and checking to see if there are any other tricks, for instance is he indeed the last Kryptonian? His superfriends and Ganthet are all in there with him. True I have enough power already, but the first thing I found out while dealing with businesses is too keep going, even when you have enough. That’s what made LexCorp what it is today my boy. The one who was called Steel now works for me, he didn’t have a choice. Come, come my friend let us rest for tomorrow is a new day.
