September 25th the DCU Guide suffered a major blow as the wiki database broke down and was completely unusable.
As a result of the changes brought on by Dark Nights: Death Metal the history of the DC Universe (and Multiverse as well) has once more been altered.

We've managed to retrieve a backup of the database from the beginning of May. Unfortunately that means we've lost 5 month worth of work (over 5000 updates), so we have a lot of catching up to do.
This means that the New 52 designation we've been using for everything up until now, no longer apply. According to Infinite Frontier #0 the "manipulations to [the] timeline have been undone, and time has been restored to its proper configuration".

A big thank you goes out to all of those who've supported and encouraged us in the last week. Without your support and kind words, this could very well have meant the end of the DCU Guide after almost 25 years.
This "proper configuration" is not completely the same as any of the past continuities but one that appears to incorporate elements from all of them.

We hope that some of you might consider joining and helping us build a bigger and better Guide to the DC Universe.
As a result of this we’ve decided to change the character designations so that they hopefully make more sense.

Special note for current members: If you joined the DCU Guide Team after May 9th 2020 you need to [[Special:CreateAccount|sign up]] again, as your registration was lost in the database breakdown. Sorry about the inconvenience.
The changes will not be instant, so some of the links in the Guide might get broken for a while, but we'd rather have the Guide online during the changes than have to take it down until we're done.

The Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe

MAJOR CHANGES!

CHARACTER RENAMING

As a result of the changes brought on by Dark Nights: Death Metal the history of the DC Universe (and Multiverse as well) has once more been altered.

This means that the New 52 designation we've been using for everything up until now, no longer apply. According to Infinite Frontier #0 the "manipulations to [the] timeline have been undone, and time has been restored to its proper configuration".

This "proper configuration" is not completely the same as any of the past continuities but one that appears to incorporate elements from all of them.

As a result of this we’ve decided to change the character designations so that they hopefully make more sense.

The changes will not be instant, so some of the links in the Guide might get broken for a while, but we'd rather have the Guide online during the changes than have to take it down until we're done.

ABOUT THE DCU GUIDE

The Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe or DCU Guide for short was established in 1996. It began as the Unofficial DC Index Series focusing on comic book indexes, but soon branched out to include character profiles, chronologies and more.

For over two decades it has been an encyclopedia filled with Who's Who profiles on characters, places, organizations, and events in the DC Universe as well as character chronologies and series indexes.
