HISTORY

Kwo Varrikk was a Green Lantern for over 200 years. Early in his career he fought the Warlord K'runak K'ann and brought peace to a whole planet, the embattled Bloodworld.

He appeared to be quite successful as a Green Lantern, as can be witnessed by his last 24 hours of service. On Minos III, Varrikk prevented a hydro-train wreck. On Minos IV, he repaired the effects of a groundquake, saving the primitive people of that world. Over Balgus VI, he diverted a meteor shower. He even made the time to save a young child's kite on Elysium, the planet known two hundred years earlier as Bloodworld. As any Green Lantern, he had his limits. Varrikk regretted he could not settle a war between the Vrygothians and Krodarrans.

Nearing the end of his 24 hours, he travelled to Oa. There, he met his successor and gave him the power ring. Leaving the Citadel, a Guardian of the Universe asked if the long years of service had been kind to him, if he was truly happy. Varrikk nodded and smiled, "It was a beautiful kite" he thought. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #177

It has recently been reported that Kwo Varrikk is memorialized in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa. The circumstances regarding his death have not been revealed. - Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1
